Sunday Afternoon

After a long ride back from West Virginia, Deb and I went in to visti with Al. To our suprise most of the equipment has been removed. Al is totally brathing on his own, without any additional oxygen. He was sort of awake, the TV was on, and he appeared to be watching a National gepgraphic show about bears. He is still sedated. He did respond to us when we talked to him, however, he did not seem to know who we were. The nurse said that there usually is temporary amnesia with head trauma, and/or it could be the meds. As we were standing there, he fell asleep so I can only think it was the meds.

  1. this is Kristen,
When I went in on Friday and saturday my dad has been a lot more of himself. When I tell him a joke he will give me a big grin. He has always had a lot of expression with his eyebrows and was making a lot of his 'normal' faces at me and last night at Herb. Herb has walked in the room with a shirt my dad got him that said easily distracted and there was a noted response. He was a lot more tired yesterday then the day before but he was still doing really well. I was impressed when one of the nurses said "people do not recover like this" she was talking about how fast and how well he is moving along. He seems to be trying to speak but is having a tough time so his lips move but nothing comes out. He is well on his way to a full recovery.
