Al as a totally horizontal man: This normally would be Al, laying on the ground working under his bike looking for answers and making repairs. There would be grumblings, talking to himself, perhaps the tossing of a wrench and screwdriver. Not in this case. Al lays there, motionless except for the breathing. It is hard to imagine him this way.
I see more diagnostic equipment, monitoring more things, than I could have imagined. One would expect a heart monitor. One would expect a respiratory monitor. There is a sensor monitoring the pressure in the head. There are pulsating pressure wraps on his legs to prevent blood clots. He has a respiratory assist. There are tubes draining. Most of the equipment I certainly do not understand, but I am thankful the doctors and medical staff do. The advances in medical procedures and technology are amazing.
Yesterday the brain pressure went up unexpectedly, then subsided. Al’s breathing appears normal. The routine continues to wake him every two hours to check his reactions. I expect that at any moment, he would sit up and ask for a crazy t-shirt. God is in control and all is in His timing. The waiting is the hardest.

Al, you are in our constant thoughts and prayers. The boys and I passed you in what must have been minutes before your accident... you looked free as a bird. That's the image I have in my mind of you and the one I am keeping. You are a fighter and you will be on that bike again in GOD's timing. Your body needs time to heal itself, and we are praying it will with GOD's help. Can't wait to see what T-shirts you will be wearing after this!
ReplyDeleteMitch... I am so grateful to you for this site and keeping us posted with Al's condition. What a blessing you are to all of us, most of all to AL!
God bless you!

Al,
ReplyDeleteOur thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We hope for a speedy and full recovery. My husband works with Al and was one of the first people on scene on Monday. He and other co-workers stayed with Al until he was taken to the hospital. He was quite shaken up since he has worked with Al for many years. We really appreciate M2 taking the time to update everyone with news of Al's condition. We will continue to keep Al & his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Al,
ReplyDeleteKnow you will be reading this soon. Just want you to know we are praying for you we all love you bro. As we talked on the way home from DC you said you rode for the Lord and all you ever ask is He use you for his Glory. I know this is not what people think when we think of Glory , but when this is all said and done your testimony will have a new chapter and more Glory to give our lord. I know this is a hard time for the people who love and care about you but from what I know of you , you will thank Him for this and use it to bring even more people to the Lord. The Lord knows your strong and will over come its just in his time.
thanks to Mitch for this page and all the support and love from everyone.
